Technical Standards

A copy of the NHBC Technical Standards (either hard copy or CD-ROM) is supplied to all NHBC registered builders as part of their registration. Further copies for NHBC registered builders and for non-registered clients can be ordered here.

Registered builders who wish to receive their Technical Standards in a different format to that they receive now, or non-registered clients who wish to receive the Standards to ensure that they are always up-to-date, should contact NHBC Distribution on 01494 735328.

Foundation Depth Calculator

Easy to use. Simply line up a tree height and tree distance, then read off the foundation depth.

Please note:
The CD version of the Standards now contains an electronic calculator to determine foundation depths when building near trees. The Chapter 4.2 electronic calculator replaces this slide rule and is quicker and easier to use. The calculator can also determine the most onerous tree and give guidance on heave precautions.   This slide rule is available while stocks last
