A1 Assessor award
Who is it for?
People who need to gain a qualification to assess candidates on an NVQ programme.
Is there an entry requirement?
No previous qualifications are required, but you must meet the occupational competence requirements of the qualification that you wish to assess. You must be working for an NVQ assessment centre and have access to registered NVQ candidates. You will need to fill in an application form and may be asked to attend an interview, which will give you the opportunity to ask detailed questions about the course. If you have any questions about whether this course is right for you, please ask our Senior Administrator, Leah O'Donnell, for advice (contact details below).
How does it work?
The course is normally held on a one-to-one basis and consists of an induction plus individual tutorials. You will be assessed to ensure you meet the requirements of the national occupational standards . You will study the following: introduction to A1 standards and portfolio building, overview of the assessment process, types of evidence, assessment planning, judging evidence, feedback skills, and the role of quality assurance.
How will I be assessed?
As this is a work-based qualification, assessment is by means of a portfolio of evidence, which you will produce. The evidence must include you being observed carrying out relevant activities in your workplace. Your assessor will also question you for any additional evidence. Your portfolio will then be assessed both internally and externally.
Your Assessor
