Accident and incident investigation service

Accidents or other incidents cannot always be avoided in our industry. What is important is that you understand quickly how failings have occurred and act swiftly to ensure they are not repeated. An essential element in any safety management system is the ability to reduce the risk of loss, injury or worse.

Valuable evidence

An accident or incident investigation could provide you with valuable defence evidence should you need to defend your organisation in a criminal or civil court. A thorough investigation demonstrates a commitment to reducing the number of accidents and a proactive approach to safety management.

Increasingly, some insurers make it a condition of their policies that accidents and incidents are thoroughly investigated. It is likely a legal duty will be imposed on employers to investigate all accidents.

Fast, effective service

NHBC's accident and incident investigation service is carried out by our team of experienced and trained accident investigators. This service is available either on a stand-alone basis or as part of an NHBC health and safety package.

When accidents do occur, we realise that speed is important and respond quickly to requests for assistance. Our investigators are strategically placed around the UK and we operate a free 24-hour emergency helpline.

The report

Once an investigation is completed, we produce our initial findings and recommendations within two days. A comprehensive report is then prepared. This includes all relevant information, witness statements, photographs, conclusions and recommendations. Where a case goes to court, NHBC can provide expert witness advice.
