How much does it cost?

New build

Once you are registered with NHBC, you will need to register each plot for Buildmark. The cost is dependent on your premium rating and the estimated selling price of the home.

For more information please read the information on Premium Rating and How much does registration cost?

Conversions and renovations

There is an initial non-refundable investigation fee so that the viability of the scheme can be determined. NHBC will visit the site to assess the condition of the existing building and feasibility of the proposed works. If accepted, the investigation fee will be credited against the home registration fee.

Fees are determined by the premium rating of the builder/developer selling the homes and the purchase price of the home. The cover is based on the selling price of the home up to a maximum of £500,000 per home or £5,000,000 per building, whichever is less.

If the first homeowner decides to sell the home (whether new build or conversion), the remainder of the cover is fully transferable to subsequent owners at no extra cost.
