Builder support services
NHBC can support builders in many different ways. This section provides some details of the services available.
Technical Advice and Support
NHBC's Standards & Technical is responsible for the NHBC Standards, providing technical information to the industry, technical research and work on new regulations and standards. Further information is provided on our publications, Building regulations and research.
Technical Standards
NHBC Standards are the 'bible' for the registered house builder and provide the benchmark for acceptable levels of design, material specification and workmanship for newly-built homes registered with NHBC. This section provides information about the standards and new versions.
Standards Extra
Standards Extra is NHBC's technical newsletter. Three issues are mailed each year to NHBC registered builders and to professionals who have subscribed to receive copies. Back issues are available here.
Building Control
NHBC offer a complete service for proposals including residential and commercial developments. We are the largest building control body in the UK providing a service for over one million properties since becoming an Approved Inspector in 1985. This section details how the system works, and how type approvals can save you time and money if you regularly use a particular design.
Inspection
By registering your plots with NHBC you will benefit from the use of our Key Stage Inspection Service. Details of our Inspection processes can be found here.
Road and Sewer Bonds
NHBC offers a discretionary facility to A1*, A1, and A2 registered builders, whereby we will provide bonds to local authorities and water companies at the request of those builders, subject to certain guidelines.
